Always pray daily. Always pray confidently.
Be deliberate. Decide to act properly in accordance to God’s 10 Commandments.
Care for one another. Husbands and wives love one another. Let your children notice it. It is the cornerstone of good parenting.
Discern good from evil. Teach children to embrace all things good. Teach them to avoid evil. Set a good example for them.
Express affection and forgiveness.
Form children fully in the Catholic faith. Use all the resources made available to introduce your children to the Catholic way of life.
Get help from the community to raise your children in the Catholic faith. Attend seminars on how to be a good parent.
Have a few good rules. Too many rules crush your children. Have boundaries to guide your children’s behavior.
Introduce your children to God in a personal way. For that to happen parents need to be acquainted with Him themselves. The children need to meet God who loves them in person. This emphasizes the importance of family prayer.
Just do a few significant things consistently and well.
Keep good communications with your spouse and children all of the time. Listen to your children.
Laugh. Cultivate a sense of humor with your spouse and children. It goes a long way.
Meet regularly to talk about family affairs.
Never compromise on morality. Enforce high moral standards at all times.
Orient your life on God. Always have God first in your family life.
Permit yourself to begin again. It is OK to forgive yourself and start again. Ask your children and spouse for forgiveness. And don’t forget to forgive yourself.
Quit feeling guilty about everything the kids do wrong or every time they get in trouble. The children have free will too. They can make their own choices.
Reach out to others. It is good to get involved in helping others in our community and parish church.
Show good example. Our good example is not enough. Children need to see us show them good example. It is not enough to “Do as I say”. If we are going to talk the talk, we must walk the walk.
Time for family prayer. Have a set time each day for family prayer. Spending time as a family at prayer is a way to acknowledge God’s presence in the home.
Use time well. Plan each day well.
Values. Study our faith so that Catholic Christian values are instilled and lived.
Witness to your experience of God to your children. It makes a difference.
Explore the truths of our faith. Study our faith not only for your own growth and development but also for the good of your children. If you are interested they will be too.
Yield right of way. Yield to the prompting of the Holy Spirit in your life. Be open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit |
