DIVINE MERCY

DIVINE MERCY

We meet on Monday night at 7:00 P.M. in rooms 101- 102 of the Education Building, to pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet, and discuss selected paragraphs of St. Faustina’s diary, where it is documented that Jesus gave us his “Divine Mercy.”  There are two items that make us attractive for parents or college students looking for something extra to be involved in?

  1. Our meetings end basically @ 8:00 P.M., so for working people, and mom’s or dad’s with kids at home, you will be home shortly after 8:00 P.M.
  2. We are a small group, our attendance this year has averaged 8-10 people at week; thus you will always have an opportunity to speak, or have your concerns discussed.

Let’s look at our meeting format to get an idea as to how we spend an hour (remember we want to finish by 8:00 P.M.)

  1. First we pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet. Every individual at the table has the opportunity to announce as many intentions as he likes for the group to pray for I have a standard list of 5-6; others have one or two or general intentions.  Something I started this week in next week’s bulletin is I have asked parishioners to e-mail me their intentions and we will add this to the list.
  2. After the Chaplet we then read an Overview of the week’s discussion, and then a lesson guide as well as the goals for the week.
  3. There are both Scripture readings, both Old and New Testament passages that illustrate these points, paragraphs from the Catechism of the Catholic Church; well as paragraphs from St. Faustina’s Diary.
  4. When we have finished these reading we will discuss the major points, and as facilitator I am in a position to not only encourage participation, but also lead the group towards the correct solution.
  5. And at 8:00 P.M. or shortly thereafter either John or I will lead the group in a closing Hail Mary.
