And it happened that while they were conversing and debating, Jesus himself drew near and walked with them

Small Christian Communities at Prince of Peace

At Prince of Peace, we believe in the power of spiritual companionship and growing faith together. Our Small Christian Communities (SCCs) are newly forming groups of parishioners who meet regularly in a friendly, welcoming setting to deepen their relationship with Christ, share faith, and support one another on the Christian journey.

In the SCCs:

  • We pray together and reflect on Scripture (often using the upcoming Sunday readings)

  • We share how faith connects with our daily lives—joys, struggles, hopes, challenges

  • We learn from each other and grow in our understanding of Catholic teaching, tradition, and discipleship

  • We cultivate community: building friendships, supporting each other spiritually, and being Christ’s hands and feet in our parish and beyond

Why We’re Starting This

Small Christian Communities have been a meaningful way in many parishes to bring people together in a more intimate way. Inspired by how the early Church gathered in smaller homes and shared life, prayer, and Word, we are launching SCCs at Prince of Peace so that:

  • Parishioners can be more deeply connected, not just to the parish as a whole, but to a smaller circle of faith-filled friends

  • People in all walks of life (families, singles, young adults, seniors) have an opportunity to share, grow, accompany, and be accompanied in faith

  • We build spiritual resilience, especially in times when large gatherings or public life can feel more distant or fragmented

How It Will Work

  • Group Size & Meetings: Each group will be around 6–10 Families. Meetings will happen regularly—likely bi-weekly/ monthly—depending on what works best for the group.

  • Location: Usually in someone’s home or a room at the parish; just someplace comfortable where we can be open and honest.

  • Format: A gathering might include prayer, Scripture reading, reflection, sharing from life, mutual encouragement, and perhaps service or discussion of how to live out what we’ve reflected on.
